Description
The Cape Verdean Student Association has been on this campus for over a decade. This organization was established to introduce the Cape Verdean Culture to the UMass Dartmouth Community. CVSA exists to provide Cape Verdean students, as well as non-Cape Verdean students, with a greater appreciation and understanding of the culture. This organization is committed to the recruitment of Cape Verdeans and students of other cultures at UMass Dartmouth. CVSA also has collaborations with similar Cape Verdean organizations in other educational institutions and the local community. Our purpose through our meetings and events is to share and expand the love for and of the Cape Verdean Culture. We strive to expand every year, with welcoming open arms, not just for the CV community, but for everyone on and off campus.
Donations are applied to...
The Cape Verdean Student Association is raising money to keep traditional events going on campus and bring new traditions to campus. We will specifically use the funds for our 23rd Annual CV Night to help us with decorations, food, artists, tech for lighting and music etc. CV Night focuses on an effort to promote and highlight our rich Cape Verdean culture, and it allows the members of the organization to have an honor for all the hard work we do throughout the year. We will also use the funds for our events we do each semester that students look forward to, like Hallowhine (Halloween party), sip and paint (mocktails), gingerbread house making and more. The new traditions we are trying to bring on campus with our fundraiser money is a Kizomba festival where would need the funds to bring a Cape Verdean artist to perform, a food truck and more. In hopes to also making a trip to Cape Verde to help and service the community out there with clothes drive, water filter, back to school supplies as our community out there could use dearly.
