Description:
Corsair Esports is the official esports program on campus. We compete nationally in six different titles currently, and we are expanding year after year. We also support the Esports lab in campus, providing a space for students to casually game in an environment made for gaming.
Esports at UMass Dartmouth:
The teams compete weekly against other schools across the country. All matches are streamed, showcasing the talent we currently have. The lab supports over 500 students a semester, with just the 11 titles we have on the computers. This program and this space are providing a “third space” for many students on campus. Often, I find students down in the space, not even gaming, but working on projects, spending time with friends. And as esports grows at the high school level, having a strong competitive team serves as a great way to attract new students to campus!
Why are donations necessary?
Funds raised will go to support the growth of the esports program and lab. We are excited to add console gaming to the lab for our fledgling fighting game community, as well as expanding the number of computers we currently offer.
