Description

The United Latino Society of the University of Massachusetts defines itself as a student organization that is committed to promoting the various ethnic and cultural experiences of the diverse Latino community on the UMass Dartmouth campus. The ULS will raise the consciousness of the UMass Dartmouth community through the expression of music, art, foods, and poetry. The ULS works closely with other multicultural organizations and offices to support the outreach and increase of the Latino population on campus. The ULS would like to diminish stereotypes, misconceptions, and prejudices that exist on the campus through meetings, discussions, programs, and events

Donations are applied to...

United Latino Society is raising money to help support the organization so that we may help educate people from all over our campus and other campuses about the Latino community and bring awareness about our culture and people. Our aim is to build community and bring together members from different ethnic backgrounds whether they be from Hispanic origin or not and create a space where everyone can be their authentic selves and provide a welcoming and nurturing environment for people to grow even further. With these funds we will hold weekly meetings and be able to provide our attendees with materials to fully participate in our discussions and activities. We will also hold larger events such as our annual event titled Orgullo Latino which is a small lens into Hispanic culture where we display all different countries such as Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Spain, etc. and show their individual cultures and educate those who may not know about it.

ULS on-campus:

We hold weekly general body meetings which we discuss all types of topics and sometimes we just have meetings to bring everyone together to relax and meet new people. We also collaborate with other organizations on campus to host events and meetings to bring together everyone under each organization.
